How effective is Caboki for helping with hair loss? We have tested and reviewed several products already and this time we wanted to take a closer look at the potential results you can expect to get from using Caboki. Hair loss or Alopecia is defined as a decrease in hair density at the head scalp and scientists have identified different factors that cause hair loss. Hair loss though is prevalent among both genders, however, it has been observed more among male members. It is believed that hair loss is primarily due to genetic makeup of individual as hair type, colour, density and distribution is genetically programmed.
Enzymes
Male sex hormones, testosterone and reduced metabolite, dihydrotestosterone also greatly disturbs follicle activity causing hair thinning and fall. Studies have figured out a 5-α-reductase enzyme that catalyzes this chemical reaction. Since then various synthetic and natural herbal chemical agents have been identified that can inhibit the catalytic activity of the enzyme and thus minimize and control hair loss.

Remedies versus Side Effects:
Today, various remedies are available in the markets to address hair loss and promote hair growth. Minoxidil is a well-known therapeutic agent applied topically to promote hair growth, however, it shows several side effects include irritation of the eyes; itching; redness or irritation at the treated area. Finasteride is another chemical compound prescribed for alopecia problem. Again, it showed many different side effects include impotence, abnormal ejaculation, erectile dysfunction and testicular pain.
Because of these reasons, hair biologist and individual consumers have been looking for safe yet effective remedy which should be free from these side effects and can be widely used in all types of hair loss or alopecia. Natural oils and extracts e.g. olive oil, Argan oil and green tea extract have been explored for their potential application to address hair loss problem.
Different Solution Types
Consumers having hair loss problem suffer a potential problem of low self-confidence, low self-esteem and subsequent psychological problems. Therefore, any physical or chemical treatment that can address hair loss is always welcome. In recent times, we have observed some other new techniques that are aimed to “Look Hair Thicker” by concealing low hair density area at scalp. Today, we review these products, how do they work and the pros and cons related to these products.
Hair Concealing Products
Over the last two decades, we observed “pigmented powdered materials” marketed to conceal hair baldness. The product is a fine grounded powder available in various color shades. The powder is sprinkled on pre-washed and dried head hair. This will instantly make hair look thicker and denser by covering the bald area of the scalp. The powder sticks to the hairs and does not fell off quickly by tapping or combing. However, washing with a regular shampoo will rinse off the powder and consumer will be required to apply the product again once the hairs are dry.
What is Hair Concealer? Ingredients
These pigmented hair concealing products are made up of either human hair or special grade Moroccan cotton (Moroccan Gossypium Herbaceum). The fiber materials are first washed using mild industrial-grade surfactants and are subsequently dried under controlled humidity conditions. In the next step, these fibers are colored to the desired color shade.
Most of the brands claim that they do not use any synthetic dyes or pigment and instead use mineral colorants. There are naturally occurring mineral colorants that are water-soluble and can be used to color fibers. The pigmented fibers are milled and grounded to make a fine colored powder which is the final product.
Best Recommended Products to Use:
How Caboki Works?
When you sprinkle Caboki into a thinning area of your hair, the fibers automatically cling to your hair like millions of tiny magnets. Each thin wisp of your hair instantly becomes thicker and fuller, eliminating those embarrassing thinning areas. No more flashes of shiny scalp showing through where there should only be hair and it can be used even on sensitive scalps.
Ingredient Composition:
Unlike similar products, Caboki is totally natural. Ingredient list is outlined below:
- Moroccan Gossypium Herbaceum
- Mineral-based colorants - natural iron oxide
- No chemicals, fillers, synthetic dyes and no animal ingredients
- Used naturally from plants rather than being “man-made”
How does Hair loss Concealer Work?
Caboki hair loss concealers are described to stick to human hair electrostatically. Human hair has partial negative charge sites along the hair shaft. This negative charged is created as a result of chemical treatments (perms, bleaches, dyeing), UV damage and everyday combing due to oxidation of cysteine amino acids to cystic acid. Caboki powder is processed to have a partially positive charge.
When we sprinkle this concealing powder on our hair, the oppositely charged species attract each other and the coloured powder stick to hair fibres. The magnitude of charge difference raises the extent of cling and does not allow powder to come off easily. It is believed that grounded powder is treated or blended with some cationic surfactant or conditioner that makes the powder positively charged.
Pros we came across:
Caboki fibre products offer various advantages for its customers
- It successfully camouflages the bald area and the hair appears thicker and denser cosmetically and visually.
- It works for both genders.
- The product does not stain skin.
- It is easy to apply and easy to rinse off afterwards.
- The powder does not shed off easily or quickly and it gives a very natural look. Cooler shade is not permanent, and the consumer may alter to any desired color shade anytime.
Cons to be aware of also:
- The cover does not last long. It generally lasts for just one day or night.
- Shampooing, having a rainfall on your hair, styling products may remove or make a mess of concealing cover.
- Different color shades are made up using inorganic minerals e.g. iron oxide. There is a growing concern of inorganic dusting and contamination of carcinogenic mineral particles.
- Metallized dyes and inorganic materials may have trace amounts of arsenic, lead and mercury. Manufacturers need to make more testing and consumer awareness about this issue.
Who should use it?
Hair concealer is not a permanent hair colouring. It is not a therapeutic agent that can prevent further hair loss or promote new hair growth. Caboki (or other brands now available in the market) are just cover up to the specific bald area of the head scalp. It visually improves hair density. Caboki is ideal for the individual suffering with a low-density hair distribution and the scalp still has some thin hairs and the scalp area looks empty. Applying Caboki can make those fine hairs fuller and thicker. It will visually improve hair density.
Conclusion Summary
Caboki is a very different approach to address hair loss problem. It is not a chemical or medical treatment. The products work based on the electrostatic interaction of positively charged Caboki powder and negatively charged hair fibres. The product does not provide a permanent solution yet can effectively cover up the problem for the time being. Despite its high fame and success stories, there are growing concerns about the dusting of inorganic materials and contamination of heavy metals though which you should be aware of also.
